Character Profiles

In this section of the site, you will find information about important characters in the Croc series. More will be added as and when they are written up.

Good Guys

Croc
Croc is, obviously, the hero of the Croc series.
Lost as a baby, and found by King Rufus, washed up in a basket on the shores of Forest Island, Croc was raised by the Gobbos, and knows their customs, habits, and the form of martial arts that they practice. It was from them that he learned how to defend himself with his Tailswipe and stomp attacks.
Croc soon grew to three or four times the size of a regular Gobbo, however, and he began to question his place on Forest Island. However, when the Gobbos were kidnapped by the despicable Baron Dante, Croc felt that he owed it to his adoptive family to rescue each and every one of them. And rescue them he did, making his mark on Gobbo history in the process - he is the hero they call "The Legend of the Gobbos".
Croc stands roughly 4 feet high, and is characterised by cute, buggy eyes, and a single tooth that protrudes from the left-hand side of his mouth. He's a well-mannered, usually polite, friendly, vegetarian reptile, and makes friends easily, which is a useful skill to have when you go on adventures like the ones Croc's been on.

King Rufus Gobbo
King Rufus is the Gobbo who found Croc when he was a baby, and raised the youngster as if he were his own - this makes Rufus Croc's adoptive father.
When Baron Dante invaded the Gobbo Valley on Forest Island, it was King Rufus that made sure that Croc was able to escape to safety. Shortly after this, Rufus was captured by Baron Dante, and imprisoned at the very top of the tower on Castle Island. During this time, Rufus was able to cope with the situation, because he knew that Croc was safe. Luckily for him (and everyone else), he raised Croc well enough that he knew to do the right thing, and thus, he was rescued as soon as Croc could make it to Castle Island.
It was King Rufus that Croc went to for advice when a message-in-a-bottle that appeared to be from Croc's biological parents washed up on a beach on Forest Island. The furry monarch and his subjects also assisted Croc in getting to the mainland, where his parents were eventually found.

The Gobbos
Gobbos are the cute, brown furry creatures, who raised Croc as their own when he was found on Forest Island.
The Gobbos are lucky enough to live a blissful life, free of many troubles, except for those caused by Baron Dante and his minions. Gobbos usually stand a foot or so in height, and are covered from head to toe in fluffy brown fur. The Gobbos on the Gobbo Archipelago (Forest Island, Ice Island, Desert Island, Castle Island, and Crystal Island) have tails, whereas the tribal Gobbos that can be encountered on the mainland do not. Furthermore, tribal Gobbos wear clothing to keep with the theme of their tribe. No matter what variety of Gobbos you come across, though, one thing remains constant - they're very tolerant, even of the worst of people, and are also very kind and friendly.
The Gobbos of the Gobbo Archipelago practice a form of martial arts for self-defence, although this isn't of much use against foes who are much bigger than they are, as is often the case.

Swap Meet Pete
Swap Meet Pete is a kind and knowledgeable, though perhaps just a little greedy, feline shopkeeper, who inhabits the mainland, and has several branches of Swap Meet Pete's General Store there. He only ever seems to tell people just enough for them to figure things out for themselves, without giving away the entirety of what's going on - but usually, that's enough to help.
Pete is such a nice guy, that he also takes on the task of keeping an eye on the often disaster-prone inhabitants of the Gobbo Villages on the mainland.
Now if someone could only convince him to lower his store's prices a bit...

Bad Guys

Baron Dante
A cruel sorcerer with a deep hatred for the Gobbo race, Baron Dante seems to exist purely to make everyone's lives difficult.
Little is known about Dante's past, although it's fairly obvious that at some point, something happened between him and Gobbo-kind, resulting in his insatiable desire to make them miserable and to bring widespread harm and heartache to the kindly furry creatures.
Baron Dante is tall, strong, and has a right hand made of metal - this allows a pun in reference to Croc: Legend of the Gobbos, whereby it can be said that, once he took over, he ruled the Gobbo Archipelago with an iron fist.
The Baron is quite powerful, and possesses magic powers that can be used to transform simple animals such as ladybugs, ducks, and mountain goats into violent and destructive monsters. It's fairly obvious, however, that Dante's magic cannot be used on more intelligent creatures, or else he would have been able to get rid of his arch-enemy, Croc, long ago.

The Dantinis
The Dantinis are the loyal and devoted followers of Baron Dante, who will go to almost any lengths to help their beloved leader - even going so far as to perform a ceremony to bring him back from the dead.
Dantinis are usually a bit bigger and bulkier than Gobbos are, and are strong enough to capture them quite easily and carry them under one arm. They come in many shapes, sizes, and colours, all with different abilities, from being able to steal rescued Gobbos from Croc's backpack, to running in circles and randomly catching on fire!
Like mainland Gobbos, mainland Dantinis also have a tendency to be tribal. Additionally, the Dantinis found on the mainland are usually the same size as, and sometimes even bigger than Croc.
